Prixview - Miami GP 2025
Oscar Piastri owns the momentum heading into a sprint weekend in South Florida.
The Circuit
The track is a narrow street circuit in the parking lot of Hard Rock Stadium that does its best to generate action with long straights.
Lando Norris scored his first F1 victory here last year.
Miami is a popular race for celebrities.
The Lap
The lap opens on its shortest straight into a technical first sector.
Sector 2 is flat out until a quick left-right-left from Turns 11-16.
The long back straight dominates Sector 3 and is one of the longest DRS zones in F1. The braking zone at Turn 17 is Miami’s most common overtaking spot.
The start/finish straight contains a third and final DRS zone that can create switchback opportunities.
Top of Mind
Oscar Piastri has two straight wins and will be looking to take control of the championship fight, and teammate Lando Norris is still his strongest rival.
Max Verstappen and George Russell are still hanging around despite lacking McLaren’s pace.
Charles Leclerc is coming off a strong race and everyone is still waiting for Lewis Hamilton to look like Lewis Hamilton.
Williams will be looking to build on their strong start. With a new set of regulations coming next year, sponsorship dollars for future development are absolutely critical for the smaller teams. William’s performance so far this year could earn them some valuable sponsors in their long term return to the front.
Odds and Predictions
Lando and Oscar are projected dead even at the front for the first time.
Oddsmakers see Max Verstappen in a class of his own faster than every non-McLaren.
George Russell and Charles Leclerc are projected 4/5 ahead of their respective teammates. I like a bet on either of these two to win a race this year. Oscar and Lando will be fighting hard, and Max always fights hard. Could be a recipe for chaos.
